    • Real-time data on solar wind (solar wind velocity and particle density) transmitted by the DSCOVR satellite, located between the Earth and the Sun, are updated every minute. The
      DSCOVR satellite positioned at a L1 (Lagrangian) point, provides information on the solar wind's physical properties, by directly measuring it as it travels from the Sun to the Earth.
    • The observed solar wind velocity ranges from 200km/sec to 1,000km/sec. A velocity below 500km/s considered low and a velocity above 700km/sec deemed high.

  • The plots show the total amount (B Total) and the component of z-axis (Bz) in the interplanetary magnetic field, which are observed in real-time by the DSCOVR satellite, a satellite observing the Sun from a L1 (Lagrangian) point between the Sun and the Earth. When the values of the z-axis component of the interplanetary magnetic field become negative, the direction turns anti-parallel to the geomagnetic field, which results in increased activity in the geomagnetic field. Put another way, the increased negative values of the Bz component carry a higher probability of occurrence of geomagnetic field activity (e.g. geomagnetic storms).
